Terms of use

Last updated 15 October 2026. Draft pending legal review. These terms apply to everyone who uses LUX, with or without an account.

1. Who runs LUX

LUX is run by Luk, a private person in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, during this test phase. LUX is not run by a company yet; when it is, these terms will name it. In these terms “LUX”, “we” and “us” mean Luk and the small team helping run the test.

Contact: blueimpactfund@gmail.com. This address is also our single point of contact for members and for authorities (EU Digital Services Act, articles 11 and 12). You can write to us in English, Dutch or Spanish. A person, not a machine, reads and answers.

2. What LUX is, and what it is not

  • LUX is a guide to events and nightlife, starting with Amsterdam, and a way to meet people who go to the same events.
  • LUX is an unofficial guide. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), its organisers or the venues.
  • LUX does not sell tickets. A Get tickets button takes you to a ticket shop run by someone else. Your purchase is between you and that shop, under its terms. LUX is not a party to it and cannot refund tickets.
  • We do our best to keep times, line-ups and prices right, but organisers change them. Check with the organiser before you go.
  • LUX is free. Some extras (such as LUX Pro) may have their own terms, like the Pro terms.

3. This is a test

LUX is in a test phase. Things may break, change or stop, and we may end the test. If we stop LUX or close the test, we will tell members in advance where we can, so you have time to download your data.

4. Who can use LUX

  • Anyone can browse events without an account.
  • An account, and everything social (seeing who is going, saying hi, chat, friends), is for people aged 18 or over only. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it.
  • Accounts are invite-only: you join through an invitation from a member or the founders. Members of the Beta Lounge also accept the Beta Lounge terms.
  • One account per person. Use your own details and your own photo.

5. Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself. If you think someone else is using your account, tell us at once. You are responsible for what is done through your account, unless it is not your fault (for example when we were hacked).

6. The rules

Follow the Community guidelines and the law. The guidelines are part of these terms. In short: respect a no, never pressure anyone to meet, never share other people’s information or photos, no selling tickets or drugs, no spam or fake accounts, adults only.

7. What you post

“Content” is anything you add to LUX: your alias, photo, interests, notes with a request, chat messages, connected profile handles and reports.

  • It stays yours. You keep all rights to your content.
  • You give us a limited permission to store it, show it and send it inside LUX, only to the people your settings allow, and only to run LUX. The permission is free and not exclusive. We do not sell your content or use it in advertising. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for what we keep for safety as described in the privacy policy (for example a report and its evidence).
  • Only post what you have the right to post. Do not post photos of other people without their permission.
  • Story pictures and links you share on Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp or elsewhere fall under those apps’ terms once you post them.

8. Sharing, referrals and influence levels

  • Links you share from LUX carry your referral code. When people join, say Going, star an event or become friends through your link, we count it, as explained in the privacy policy.
  • Your influence level (Explorer, Connector, Selector, Curator, Scene Builder) is recognition only. It gives no money, no prizes, no perks you can claim and no other rights.
  • You have no right to any commission, share, payout or other payment for tickets bought or people who joined through your links, even if a ticket shop or organiser pays LUX something. LUX does not pay members. Any number you see is a count, not a balance.
  • If we ever start a rewards programme, it will have its own terms, and it will only apply to you after you accept those terms.
  • We may change how levels and counts work. Do not spam your link, buy or fake sign-ups, or create accounts to raise your numbers; we may remove counts that come from abuse.

9. Connected profiles

The Instagram, Spotify or Snapchat handles on your profile are typed in by you. LUX does not check them with those services, and shows them as added by the member. Add only your own accounts. Never pretend to be someone else.

10. Our name, design and content

The LUX name, logo, design, code, artwork and our own event descriptions belong to LUX or to the people who licensed them to us. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors; map tiles by CARTO. You may use LUX for your own, non-commercial use. Do not copy the event listings in bulk, scrape the site or its members, use bots, or try to get around security or rate limits.

11. Reporting and how we moderate

How to report. In the app, open a person’s card and tap Hi, then Report; choose what happened and add a short note. You can also report from a chat. Anyone, also without an account, can report content they think is illegal or breaks these terms by email to blueimpactfund@gmail.com. Please say what it is and where (a link or the member’s alias), why you think it is illegal or against the rules, and how we can reach you.

What happens next. We confirm that we received an emailed report. A person reads every report; we do not use automated decision-making for moderation. On event nights we aim to act within hours. If someone may be in danger we can hide a profile at once while we look. We then decide carefully and without bias. Possible outcomes: no action; hiding or removing content or a photo; hiding a profile; limiting features; suspending or closing an account. We tell the person who reported what we decided. We do not tell the reported person who reported them.

If we act on your content or account, we tell you what we did, why (which rule or law), the facts behind it, and how you can challenge it, unless the law does not allow us to or it concerns large-scale spam. During the test we tell you by email or in the app.

Challenging a decision. If you disagree with a decision on your content or account, or with how we handled your report, write to blueimpactfund@gmail.com within six months. Someone who did not take the first decision looks at it again where possible, and we tell you the outcome. If we got it wrong, we undo it. You can also go to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under the Digital Services Act (the European Commission lists them), or to court. Using one of these does not take away your other rights.

Crimes. If we learn of something that threatens someone’s life or safety, we tell the police. If someone often sends reports that are clearly unfounded, we may, after a warning, stop handling their reports for a while.

12. Suspending and closing accounts

We may suspend or close an account, or limit what it can do, if it breaks these terms, the guidelines or the law, puts others at risk, or when the test ends. What we do will fit what happened, and we give reasons as described above.

You can leave at any time by deleting your account under Profile → Settings → “Delete my account”. It is deleted at once. Your data explains what is deleted and what is kept.

13. Responsibility

  • LUX is a free service in a test phase. We work hard to keep it safe and working, but we cannot promise it is always available or without errors.
  • We are not responsible for events themselves, for tickets you buy from others, or for what other members do. Meeting someone is your own choice; please follow the safety tips in the guidelines.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow that, in particular for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury we cause.
  • Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law. If a part of these terms is not valid, the rest still applies.

14. Changes to these terms

We tell members about changes at least 30 days before they take effect, in the app or by email, unless a change is needed sooner because of the law or for safety. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before the change takes effect. Changes never apply to the past.

15. Law and disputes

Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of that country. Please tell us about a problem first, at blueimpactfund@gmail.com; most things can be solved quickly. You can always take a dispute to the competent Dutch court or to the court where you live.
